Groceries and Shops

Note 1

At every store the very first thing a cashier asks you in Spanish is if you need a fiscal check (it’s done for business expense deductions). Say “No”.

Note 2

It’s normal here if the boy who bags your products will help you to bring the bags to your car and load them. Usually we give them 50 pesos / $1 tip, or we take the cart from them after bagging and do everything ourselves for free.

Note 3

All prices in the shops already include all taxes which would be a breath of fresh air for our Canadian friends 😉 The only exception is the restaurants.

 

Supermarket Nacional

Your main source of food, a lot of options for fruits, meat, spices and drinks imported from Europe and USA. It’s the most luxurious supermarket in the whole island. It’s located 5 minutes driving distance from the villa. 

The best way to get there is through 3 gates inside the community

Jumbo

This is a local version of Walmart. Located about 15 minutes away from the villa, has an average variety of closing, household items, average selection of international food. The best parking option is underground (Parqeo Techado). Jumbo is considered to be more economical than Nacional, but we find most prices very comparable.

Cash & Carry – Veron

Cash and Carry is popular chain of high-end frozen foods.  You can get very delictions steaks, red caviar, smoked salmon, fancy cheeses, wine and all at the best prices on this island.  They It’s located in Veron and driving there might be a bit stressful. Takes about 20 minutes from the villa. They have very nice and popular restaurant on premises.
